It seems old-fashioned and rather quaint now to refer to the Castro as ‘the gay district’. Whatever your orientation, there are many, many reasons to visit this eclectic neighbourhood but if thrift store or vintage shopping is your thing, then I’ve just given you another reason. I spent hours in Crossroads Trading on Market and Church – just on the edge of the Castro area – and came out laden down with bags of unique and lovely things. They stock lots of new or nearly new clothing and shoes, all kinds of brands, really clean. I’ve been to most of their stores in SFO but I think this one is the best. Check it out on your way to or from the Castro.
